In this article I will demonstrate how I drove traffic from the popular website 9gag.com. 9gag is currently the 824th most visited website in the United states of America so it is clear that there is tons of traffic to filter off from the website onto your websites.
How 9gag marketing works
9gag is a meme positing website where you can either post a video direct off instagram or youtube which will embed your content and give you a backlink to your actually video. In he screenshot you can see clearly how from one of my videos I had very little or no views on I generated over 1,000 views which clicked off 9gag to visit my youtube video. I also gained 2 subscribers from it.
Before you post
9gag have a live community who are very engaged, if you want to post content to drive traffic you should note that there are certain categories on the website which you can post in. If your content is not relevant it will be downvoted (disliked) and become unfindable to all the 9gag community. Also you can only post 3 videos a day so I would suggest you should post one in the morning, afternoon and evening in order to see what works best.
How much traffic can I drive to my youtube video?
It totally depends on whether or not people like your content, anything funny that they have not seen before they will like. I find that not many people are actually posting gaming videos so it would be a good idea if you have a gaming youtube channel to begin posting on there. But please note the community are very fussy and tend to down vote a lot of videos they don't think are well made or low quality. I have a video with over 250k video views on youtube and the 9gag community added 17k views in just one day, which proves that good content will be engaged with and you will gain a nice steady flow of traffic as well as subscribers.
What not to do on 9gag
9gag is great for another reason, it has an app with a huge amount of downloads so you will end up on there website and their app as well as other websites that embed their content so your link gets spread around far and wide, which will boast your website in the search engine. I would suggest not just posting content from your websites but to post funny videos, images and see what gets engaged with the most and then link back to your website. Do not try to sell on 9gag or water mark your images and if you think you will do well by posting videos in any section you will end up with your account being banned.
